In the effort to create more human robot scientists from USA and China created a “smart skin” that is capable of feeling pressure to the same extent with our fingers. The material contains sensors called taxels and 3D comprise bundles of nanowires with zinc oxide and a total of approximately 8000 transistors.
These can and produce electronic signals when placed under mechanical load sensitively touches that of human skin. The physics behind the technology that has to do with small loads polarization of piezoelectric materials, such as zinc oxide, which is produced when the material is under tension. The practical applications of this technology include robotics, medicine, prosthetics and other cases where there is mechanical deformation.
