Apple and Especially Android are Killing Microsoft

Want to envision an incredible chart? It’s right on top of this post and it shows the increase and fall of laptop platforms (including mobile) as a proportion of overall market share from 1975 to 2012.

What will it tell United States of America about the state of the pc industry? Even with iOS’s success, Apple is proportionately commerce about an equal proportion of computers because it has since the first Nineteen Eighties. Windows as a platform, though, has fallen from a 96 p.c share of the laptop market between 1998 and 2005 to a 35 p.c in 2012.

Why? Apple and particularly automaton ar killing Wintel.

The chart comes from mother Meeker, a partner at leiner Perkins Caulfiend and Byers, from “2012 web Trends Year-End Update” report. And Unfortunately, these things  are not looking good for Windows.

It’s pretty obvious what’s happening here. Back within the halcyon days of Microsoft and Intel’s partnership, and before the increase of mobile and ARM, just about everything ran Windows, particularly when Microsoft free Windows-95.

Over the last 5 years, though, the case has modified. the increase of mobile ARM-based devices running iOS or automaton have merely folded Windows’s market share, with without stopping in view.

No marvel Microsoft’s pushing ARM-based versions of Windows out the door. No marvel they’re redesigning Windows from the bottom up to be touch-screen friendly. No marvel they’re panicking that no one’s shopping for Windows-8 or Windows Phone-8 . This chart says it all: Windows is dying, and since Windows is Microsoft’s lifeblood, which means Microsoft is dying.

Here’s the total side-show:
