Action Video Games Improve Vision!

Good news for worldwide gamers, since according to recent research videogames action not only does not impair vision, but in some cases can be proved beneficial.

In a test conducted at McMaster University in Canada has been awarded to six young people born with cataracts (congenital cataract) to play the popular first-person shooter game ‘Medal of Honor’ for 40 hours in a month. Patients had to play 5 days a week and a maximum of 2 hours, otherwise you could be addicted.

The results showed that after 40 hours of gameplay, 5 to 6 patients had significant improvement in vision. Specifically, persons could distinguish more easily, identify the direction of motion and to read smaller letters than before.

One possible explanation is that the Medal of Honor but most games require quick action of the players respond to what happens and follow objects moving in different directions. Moreover, increasing levels of dopamine and adrenaline, making the brain more active.
