Researchers Propose Quantum Computers with Holograms

The quantum mechanical computers has made a great progress in recent years, but mainly because of the complexity and cost, is still in research stage. A new system proposed by a group of researchers in the Air Force and the University Florida Atlantic University, the which, though not likely to bear directly on quantum computing market could reduce the cost of construction considerably.Researchers Propose that Quantum Computers with Holograms

The system would use photons instead of electrons which do not easily interact with each other and thus do not attach the same to convey information. The traditional solution for this problem is to use an instrument called inteferometer, which allows the manipulation of photons, which, however, dramatically increases the cost. The proposed solution is to “convey” a work of the inteferometer a permanent hologram “scrambled” in a “window” from “OptiGrate” glass.
