Next time you catch yourself on this feeling, think about this: “Would I like to become a person I envy?” Surely not, you love yourself (even if somewhere deep inside).

You are looking at someone else’s life you don’t know. You have no idea what this person is thinking. Maybe when he dives into the pool of his private home, does he hate himself or is he wildly afraid of something? Maybe you, walking in the woods on a sunny day, are experiencing much more pleasure than he is, basking in the white sand of the Maldives?

Stop looking at others. If you feel good now, then everything is correct. If not, make it good.

16. Uncertainty

Happy people, as a rule, have self-esteem (just not to be confused with the bloated ego). They are satisfied with themselves and radiate confidence.

There is no reason to doubt yourself. If you have traits that you hate, there are two ways: to accept or change them. Every person has everything at once: the libertine, and the puritan, and the lying bastard, and the gentleman. You choose who you should be.

People think that others should meet their expectations. That’s bullshit. Nobody owes you anything, neither do you owe anything. No one should be polite, attentive, neat, honest, pleasant to talk to, clean in the end. Nothing should be perfect, delightful, unforgettable, but it can be. If it is – fine, if not – you will not be upset. Be ready to accept everything that sends you life, and find happiness.
