Samsung Announces its Future 8-Core ARM Processor

Samsung

Samsung has announced its intention to present its future processors from the concept big.little at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference in February It will be 2 chips containing ARM processors with 4 cores, for a total of 8 and for environments requiring high power, servers or games consoles.
These 64-bit chips have a frequency of 1.8 GHz, while adjoining two processors have a cache of 2MB common to talk together and share the results of their calculations.

Samsung will not be the only one to offer in 2013 this kind of ARM processor and very muscular for anything other than tablets and smartphones. This is for all those who produce ARM chips to Intel to offer faster then this time its Haswell processors. Indeed, some chips this new generation will be quite efficient and powerful to get in competition with these super ARM processors. That will be probably the first time that we have a real competition between Intel and ARM with weapons similar in terms of relative power consumption.
