MediaTek Launches World’s First Quad-Core Chip Cortex-A7

MediaTek-world-First-Quad-Core-Chip-Cortex-A7Today MediaTek company officially unveiled the world’s first ARM-chip quad-core Cortex-A7 –  MT6589. The chip offers great opportunities for mobile devices while power efficient and inexpensive compared to the development of competitors.

Chip made on 28-nanometer process, offers support simultaneous operation of two SIM-cards in the networks of the second and third generation (UMTS Rel. 8/HSPA + / TD-SCDMA) and powerful graphics PowerVR SGX544. Among other characteristics MT6589 – Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM, Wi-Fi 802.11n, 3D-capable displays and convert 2D to 3D in real-time.

MT6589 supports recording and playback of Full HD video at 30 frames per second and a 13-megapixel photo module. The maximum frequency of the nuclei is not so high compared to the competition – 1.2 GHz, while achieving adequate performance, and power consumption is minimal.

Now the Japanese company is testing the chip and then decide on the possibility of its application in their smartphones. MediaTek MT6589 application will reduce the cost of devices without reducing their productivity.
